Laurie Bishop Bogue has always loved the beauty, intrigue and pure fun that revolves around abstract art. A few years ago after leaving the corporate world and the anchor desk at CNN, she thought now or never and picked up a palette knife and began her journey as an artist.
Her technique is refreshingly unique and the message is delivered through strong color and texture. Spiritual passion and prayers play a key role in the development of her work. Laurie has adopted Georgia as her home state, however her roots in Florida are seen in many of her paintings as she frequently incorporates soothing water scenes.
While Laurie is primarily self taught, she has also studied with Melissa Payne Baker and Micah Ganske as well as collaborating with other local artists.
Her work is currently represented at Ann Jacob Gallery in Highlands, North Carolina. Many of her pieces are held in private and corporate collections throughout the country.
She has been a contributor for the Atlanta High Arts Museum-High Arts Day. In addition to donating pieces, she also presents her work in several Atlanta shows annually. Some of the events she has participated in are:
The Lionheart School Alpharetta, Georgia 2014
High Arts Day – Atlanta High Art Museum Atlanta, Georgia 2013
Wellspring Living Art Show Atlanta, Georgia 2013
Grateful Hearts Atlanta, Georgia 2013
Challenged Child and Friends Northeast Georgia 2013
Laurie’s joy is using the gift God has given her and seeing her collections help people and bring visual and emotional pleasure to private collectors.
